THE DEFINITION OF HEALTH

There is much written about Health and Health Care. There is a tremendous amount of attention put on the subject of health. They say, “If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything”. Well, what does that mean? What are they saying? The truth is that you have to know what health is before you can have the goal of attaining it therefore we need to have a good definition for health.

Health is defined as physical and mental well-being; freedom from disease, pain or defect. (Webster’s New World dictionary)

What that means is that a healthy person would:

  1. Feel well.
  2. Sleep well.
  3. Be energetic
  4. Have no chronic diseases (disease that doesn’t go away quickly or persists over a long period of time).
  5. Have no chronic pain.
  6. Not require medication
  7. Be happy and alert.

That is how a healthy person should feel.

This is a goal worth working for. But how does one actually go about achieving it. Here are the 6 vital things you need to know to take control of your own health:

  • Which foods are healthy to eat in general - Such as fresh meat, organic vegetables, fish, and rice?
  • How to test yourself for foods you are sensitive or allergic to so you can avoid them. This is very important because everyone has a few key foods that are destroying their health.
  • How to test yourself for exactly which vitamins that you need to take and in what quantity. Not knowing how to do this opens the door for one of the most common mistakes that people make in the nutritional arena. They guess at what they should take or they get it from the latest article or television commercial or from a friend. “Hey, try this it worked for me.” Is all too common. An important thing for you to know is that individuals have different nutritional needs and even their needs change from week to week. Now you might see why the subject of nutrition is so confusing and seems to be different for everyone. That is because it is. The bottom line is if you don’t know how to test yourself you will be guessing on what to take and no matter how good of a guesser you are or how much research you do, the results will be less than satisfying and you will waste a lot of money. Another thing to keep in mind is that taking the wrong vitamins is harmful to the body so you want to be sure you take the right ones.

The State of Health in America

Hello everyone. I wanted to take a few minutes and talk to you about the state of health in America. What I will talk to you about has to do with the health of each individual, the health of the doctors, the health of the health care industry in general. Now, after many years of practicing with thousands and thousands of people, and working with hundreds of doctors of all kind, from medical doctors to chiropractors to specialists in various diseases such as asthma, arthritis, infertility, gastroenterology, and many others. I’ve seen that there is a pattern in the whole system. There is a tremendous amount of frustration, despair, and fear that things won’t get better. The common denominator that I see that is wrong with the patients, the doctors, and the whole system is responsibility. Now, one of the things that I noticed when I worked with my patients was that I really wanted them to get better. I was not so worried about them getting better using my procedures, as I was just plain interested that they got better. What that did was open the door for me to change, improve, research new things and use the things I learned on my patients instead of just doing the same thing over and over again regardless of whether or not it worked. The patients that came in wanted to improve as well. But, when I first started working with patients I saw that t we had two different things in mind. My ideas was that they would have to do whatever it took to be healthy and I would help them with what was the best thing to do. There idea was more along the lines of it was my job to fix them and I would have to do whatever I could do to make them better without much effort or change on their part. In fact, they didn’t even want to have to pay for it. If insurance didn’t cover it they weren’t interested. Now, we get down closer to the problem. I’m sick and it’s up to the insurance company and the doctor to make me better. Believe it or not this was more common than not. Now, I actually tried working that way for a while because it’s kind of what you learn in school but what I found out very rapidly was if the patient wasn’t fully responsible for their own health, if they weren’t fully responsible for the program that they were on, if they weren’t willing to exchange money for the program they needed (even if insurance wouldn’t cover it), if they wouldn’t put all their intention into understanding it and then doing it, well then they wouldn’t get better.

I’ve seen what has happened over the years and that is that patients have tried and failed. Doctors have tried and failed. Together they have taken less and less responsibility for their own health. That is a formula for disaster and our increasing numbers of diseased people confirm that it is not working.

Now, another thing that I noticed is let’s say I worked with a patient and let’s say they had diseases such as asthma, arthritis, infertility, insomnia, heart trouble, whatever. All the different diseases that people have now a days. One of the biggest problems in America is that you are not really allowed to cure these diseases – as a doctor. If you cure one, and you are a chiropractor, you are not even allowed to say it - Even if you really did cure a person with that disease. There are licensing restrictions on chiropractors where you can’t even say you’ve treated or have any method of treating those types of problems. Now, when I first started out I didn’t set out to treat chronic diseases. That wasn’t what I was trained for. I worked with things like low back pain, neck pain, and headache type problems. But what I found was that as I worked with patients I would improve their overall health and other areas of their bodies would start to function better. Then when I used more and more nutrition their bodies functioned even better. Then when I uncovered another important missing ingredient to the puzzle. This missing ingredient is probably the most misunderstood and wrongly applied factor in the health care field today. In fact, this last one is so important that without it I would not be writing to you today, and I would not have had over 6000 patients that were freed from their various diseases. Because of this new discovery I saw their chronic diseases diminish or just plain vanish.

Now, what’s important to know is that all I was doing was working to improving their normal body function and these diseases would cease to exist. What was totally strange about it was that I was not allowed to tell anyone that I had “Cured”, or gotten rid of, or improved, or even treated that particular problem.

I treated someone for the improvement of normal body function and his asthma went away. I did the same for another and his arthritis improved. I did the same for another and her congestive heart failure improved - on and on with many different diseases. They slept better, their hearts worked better, they had more energy, their digestion improved, their cholesterol came down to normal, and they were able to bear children when previously they couldn’t. Things like that actually happened. They were not miracles, luck, or all in their head, as some had said. They were real life changes that occurred for people that really wanted to be responsible for their own health and make the changes that I suggested.

But funny enough, we live in this world of the “double blind study” which is a scientific method that is used as the gold standard for the workability of something. Now, I am not opposed to the double blind method. I am very scientific by nature and I do agree that methods should be meticulously tried and tested in order to be considered a workable solution. However, what I was most interested in, and what my patients were most interested in was results. Did the patient feel better, did the patient have more energy, and did the patient get rid of the thing that was ruining their life. In other words, did they get rid of this disease or not. To me, that is a study. It either works or it doesn’t. Now, do you want to know about how a drug affects a rat or do you want to know about the steps I took explaining how I helped my patients get rid of the same things you have that you would like to get rid of?

What I saw was that there were 2 types of people. Those who were on my program and those that were not. Those that were on it got better and those that were not didn’t. That is simple science.

But, now is the confusing part. Instead of being interested in the results that people had, the regulatory agencies created rules and laws that severely penalize any chiropractic physician who would make such claims, without a “double blind study”. It doesn’t even matter if everything the doctor says is true. He still cannot run an ad that tells about it, he cannot show patient testimonials that explain it in their own words, and he cannot lecture on it in hopes to educate or help others with it.

They basically say there is no cure. There is no cure for asthma, arthritis, heart problems, high cholesterol, etc. I could sit here and list diseases for several minutes that there are “no cures” for but funny enough each one of these “incurable diseases” fall away when you find and correct the real cause behind the ailment. Just by getting the body to work correctly, the diseases no longer exist.

That’s the state of health in America. Patients don’t know what to do, doctors don’t know what to do for them. Even if the doctor finds a non-drug solution that improves the disease he is not allowed to say so. Yes, we are in a somewhat tricky situation.

So, what’s the solution?

There is one thing that I consider to be the most important part of health and that is that each person takes charge of his or her own health and believe that something can be done about it. If every person in America took charge of their own health, demanded real answers to their problems and demanded that the treatment programs their doctors gave them worked, then they would be well on their way to being healthy.

So, the idea that your condition cannot be handled is an outright lie. The idea that diseases are incurable is completely false. The idea that patients don’t even believe they can be helped is sad. The idea that people think that anyone who says they can help is a fraud has been created to stop people from believing there is a chance for health in the first place. What I have to tell you is that there are incredible health programs out there that are drugless, that cause no harm, and most importantly they work. The Adrenal Glands

Q: I was told my adrenals are shot and that is why I have no energy. What does that mean?

A: The adrenals could be considered the emergency backup system for low energy or stressful situations. As you learned in the last issue, energy is made mostly in the liver and muscle. This energy is produced by a series of chemical reactions that combine food and specific vitamins, minerals, enzymes and oxygen. I have Asthma. I can’t Breathe! What can I do?

I have been asked the question, “What can I do”, by countless patients over the years. Most of them came to me as a last resort, on their last leg of hope or belief that there might be something that can be done to treat this horrible disease. While listening to these patients describe their life as an Asthmatic, I heard things like:

  • I’m a slave to drugs.
  • I can’t exert myself.
  • I feel like I am breathing through a coffee straw.
  • I have no real hope for a cure or for the future.
  • Breathing treatments rule my life.
  • I am chronically sick.
  • I wonder… is it my pets? …My rugs? …My air conditioner? …Genetics? …The environment? …Stress?
  • Am I just suffering from an Inhaler deficiency?

They were truly exhausted from countless attempts of searching for a solution to breathe better, feel younger, have more energy and have a hope for the future, only to fail one more time. Most were at the end of their ropes.

That is, until they tried my program. I first explained to them that Asthma is not a normal part of life. No one should have to live with this health problem. I explained my philosophy that all body problems, no matter how complicated, come from vitamin, mineral and enzyme deficiency. I told them that my programs are centered around the idea that if we give the body what it is missing, nutritionally, it has a chance to work correctly.

What is wrong with an Asthmatic?

Here is my theory. There are 4 specific areas that Asthmatics have a problem with:

  1. Inflammation (Swelling) and Mucous. There is always something causing inflammation and mucous production in the lungs. The inflammation and mucous blocks the airways in the lungs and makes it difficult for the lungs to expand. Therefore, your chest will feel tight and restricted. This is why the doctors give you inhalers with anti-inflammatory drugs and steroids, like prednisone. They are used to temporarily eliminate the inflammation and mucous, but they don’t handle what is causing it so the problem will return. The most common cause of mucous build-up in the lungs is eating some food that your body is allergic or sensitive to. Dairy products tend to be the worst offender for asthmatics.

  1. Calcium and Magnesium. Calcium and Magnesium are minerals that must be in balance for the lungs to work correctly. Calcium and Magnesium are required to expand (Inhale) and contract (Exhale). If Calcium and Magnesium are deficient or imbalanced then you won’t be able to Inhale and Exhale correctly and you will need to use an inhaler that has some form of muscle-relaxer in order to loosen your chest up and breath.
  2. Steroids and Prostaglandins. Every person is supposed to have their own chemicals in the body that fight inflammation and reduce mucous. These are called steroids and prostaglandins. These are what the doctors are trying to replace when they give you steroids and anti-inflammatory medications. Steroids and Prostaglandins must be plentiful and balanced inside your body. If there is a deficiency or imbalance in these chemicals then you will not be able to fight inflammation and you will be dependent on drugs such as Prednisone to do it for you. People that are deficient in certain building blocks (such as Essential Fats) for these important chemicals cannot make enough of them so they can’t fight inflammation very well at all. Then inflammation and mucous build up in their lungs and they have a breathing problem.

  1. The Nerves. The Nerves control the lungs. These Nerves bring messages from the brain to the lungs so the lungs know when to expand (Inhale) or contract (Exhale). They are kind of like telephone wires. If there is any problem with the nerves that go to the lungs then you will have trouble breathing.

What do I do?

U.S. Surgical Errors Cost Nearly $1.5 Billion Annually

A recent analysis by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) indicates that employers pay out almost $1.5 billion each year to cover the costs incurred from preventable adverse medical events in surgical patients.

The costs of surgical errors were estimated by analyzing data from a nationwide sample of more than 161,000 adult patients who underwent surgery in 2001 and 2002.

Preventable errors included technical problems, infections, pulmonary and vascular problems, acute respiratory failure, metabolic problems, wound problems, and events related to nursing care. Respiratory failure and infections were particularly costly adverse events; insurers paid over $28,000 and over $19,000 extra for a surgical patient who had respiratory failure or an infection, respectively.

Other added costs included more than $12,000 for episodes related to nursing care, more than $11,500 for metabolic problems, close to $8,000 for pulmonary and vascular problems, and nearly $1,500 for wound problems.
